In order to get TRIM Enabler to do its magic, you must first enter the system credentials to provide it with full access. TRIM Enabler has a streamlined and minimalist user interface composed of only one window. TRIM Enabler is a small and straightforward application designed to compensate this SSD design disadvantage by activating TRIM support on SSD drives from any maker. Straightforward and easy to use application designed to activate the TRIM feature for SSDs on your Mac Therefore, unlike a traditional hard-drive that can overwrite data in a single action, the SSD first has to erase all data in this “not used” space before it is able to store new files. When you delete a file, the SSD will not remove it instantly, but will flag the space used by the file as being “not used”. There is however, one little design flaw in the way the a SSD handles used and unused storage space. SSDs are more cost efficient, durable, faster, lighter, and they consume less power than traditional hard-drives. Probably one of the best inventions in the hardware world is the SDD or Solid State Drive, that is, as its name suggest, a storage unit without internal moving parts. A must-have application if your Mac has a SSD Despite this, the performance potential is somehow slowed down by the design of a normal HDD.

REVIEW OF TRIM ENABLER FOR MACBOOK WITH SSD MAC OS X
TRIM support can be enabled in the latest revision of Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.7), but it only works with Apple SSD drives. But there’s still no guarantee it’ll support TRIM on non-Apple SSDs.
REVIEW OF TRIM ENABLER FOR MACBOOK WITH SSD UPDATE
Apple plans to rectify this with the upcoming release of Mac OS X Lion and possibly in the next update for Snow Leopard 10.6.7. Unfortunately, TRIM isn’t supported on a lot of operating systems, and while newer drives boast their own technologies to combat this problem with relying on the OS, older drives rely on TRIM being supported. TRIM is a command designed to fix a problem whereby over time the write performance of a SSD starts to degrade to as little as 50 per cent of its original speed. What is Trim Enabler ? SSD drives are quicker, quieter and cooler but it has one flaw – drive degradation.

– Download an app called TRIM ENABLER from It was a 313 MB download as seen on my MBA – Your OS must be the latest Snow Leopard 10.6.7 – update to this if you haven’t done so. Blame yourself being just one of those few unlucky guys. Don’t blame if your spanking MBA becomes an expensive paperweight. As in any tweaks, you do this at your own risk. But human nature being greedy, we always wish to improve things further especially if it can be done at no extra cost. I have mentioned this in my review of the latest MBA in my previous post. The performance of the SSD is already awesome. If you own the latest MacBook Air which comes with SSD drives, these tweaks could make the SSD drives run faster.
